MOUNT ST. HELEN’S – The Rebirth of Mount St. Helens

$14.99

“The new dome was an unusual shape often called a “whaleback”, after it was described by a reporter as “looking like a whale shouldering its way to the surface”. It continued to grow vigorously in the following months. By February 2005, it had grown to 1600 feet in length, was 500 feet wide, and was 530 feet higher than the old 1986 dome. There was visible uplift of the crater floor, and the dome was expanding so rapidly it cracked the glacier almost in half.

This stunningly beautiful, over-sized book is lavishly illustrated with breathtaking color imagery by America’s leading landscape photographers. In addition to the stunning photography, the book also includes detailed maps of the park and region and insightful, heartfelt narratives detailing the park’s natural and human histories.
